Ryan Garcia seems to have finally settled on an opponent after a rollercoaster ride choosing a fighter. And the name in the opposite corner is a familiar one – Rolly Romero! The massive development comes following failed negotiations between the two camps. In a tweet today, now deleted, ‘King Ry’ claimed, “Well, I assume it’s April 20th. 4/20. See you soon, Rolly Polly.”
He further stated, “Enjoy every moment not in the ring with me until 4/20 cause that day you will not enjoy what will happen.” However, Garcia wasn’t done, as he warned Romero about bringing one of his prior opponents into the mix. He wrote, “Potentially even bring Barroso to come, hang with me in camp, and talk about how he whooped you. Going to be [a] blast.”
However, this fight did not come easy! Previously, Garcia’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, had revealed that ‘King Ry’ might be fighting Jose Ramirez, claiming Rolly Romero had priced himself out. So, Romero hit back with a fight with Isaac Cruz, who was also rumored to be in consideration for Garcia. ‘Rolly’ went as far as to accuse De La Hoya of going around his back to set a deal with Cruz. Nevertheless, in a shocking turn, Garcia finalized the fight. After his initial tweet with the announcement today, the Victorville native returned to X, addressing his fans. in April, as revealed by Ryan Garcia.
