Ryan Garcia has chaos swirling around him. He’s locked in a war of words with Terence Crawford, while talks for a long-anticipated rematch with Devin Haney continue to drag on with no clear resolution. Still, through all the uncertainty, the Victorville native exudes confidence about one matchup in particular—a showdown with former WBO super lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez. And now, he appears to have a date for the fight.

“July 25th,” said Garcia in a recent KICK livestream.

He was getting his hand wrapped before a training session when he revealed the date for his next fight. When asked who he was fighting, Garcia confirmed it’s Teofimo Lopez.

“Teofimo, bring him on. Bring his b***h a** on.”

He also added that he would never fight Arnold Barboza Jr., who has been calling him out for a fight. Garcia explained that Barboza, who is his promotional stablemate, lacks the popularity. Barboza, of course, dropped a unanimous decision to ‘The Takeover’ Lopez in May 2025 on the same card where Garcia lost to Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero

Since then, Barboza has moved to welterweight and bounced back with a win over Kenneth Sims Jr. to become the WBO interim welterweight champion. Lopez, on the other hand, lost a unanimous decision to Shakur Stevenson in February. Although he hasn’t confirmed the fight date with Garcia, he has previously spoken about moving to welterweight.

Ryan Garcia, in the meantime, became the WBC welterweight champion after defeating Mario Barrios in February. The Victorville native challenged Shakur Stevenson after the fight, but Stevenson’s demand for a rehydration clause has stalled the potential bout at the moment. Meanwhile, Garcia’s promoter has also shared his thoughts on Garcia’s next opponent.

Oscar De La Hoya has other plans for Ryan Garcia

As far as Oscar De La Hoya is concerned, Devin Haney remains the biggest fight for Ryan Garcia. The pair collided back in April 2024. Although Garcia won, the win was quickly turned into a no-contest after Garcia tested positive for Ostarine. The fight has since been planned and derailed at least a couple of times. Still, De La Hoya hopes things play out for the best.

“I’m sure I’ll be speaking to him soon as we do have a Ryan fight coming up …,” Oscar told Ariel Helwani. “Not sure yet, not sure yet. I’m hoping it’s Devin Haney. I think that’ll be the biggest fight out there for both guys. It’s an opportunity for Devin Haney to obviously get revenge and vindicate himself, but for Ryan, it’ll just put a stamp on his legacy once again.”

Currently, Garcia is trading barbs on social media with Haney, with a potential September clash being floated. Haney has insisted that Garcia enroll in VADA’s year-round drug testing program, though it remains unclear whether the Victorville native is willing to comply. Garcia’s recent pivot toward a possible bout with Teofimo Lopez instead suggests he may not be fully on board with Haney’s demands.

With that, Ryan Garcia may have made up his mind about fighting Teofimo Lopez. However, nothing is set in stone unless an official announcement is made. Do you think the fight will actually happen?
