Now, in the latest turn of events, Garcia has called out the multi-weight champion again. Speaking to Little Giant Boxing on YouTube, Garcia gave a message to Pacquiao and said, “Pacquiao, hey man, I respect you and honor you, but we need to get it on.”

This comes as a surprise, since his promoter De La Hoya shut down rumors of a potential fight between the two, saying it’s ‘only for Instagram’. However, the undefeated fighter showed his desire with these comments.

However, given Pacquiao’s age and limited time in the sport, it would be a huge surprise if he agreed to this fight, especially with all the unfinished business in the welterweight division.

Who will Ryan Garcia fight if not Manny Pacquiao?

Despite the constant references to the fight, a bout with Pacquiao is highly unlikely for Garcia. Given his global stardom, Garcia will have to find a suitable opponent that fits the bill. So who can the lightweight sensation fight?

Top of his list will be Gervonta Davis. The champion was Garcia’s first choice before shifting to Pacquiao. He claimed he wanted to shut down ‘Tank’. However, the talks fell through when Garcia pursued a fight against the Filipino.

He would also welcome a fight against WBC champion Devin Haney. Garcia is the mandatory challenger for Haney’s belt. Moreover, the pair have a history between them and have engaged in a few verbal battles over the years.

If Haney and Davis are out of the equation, recent rumors suggest Garcia will fight an opponent like Javier Fortuna. This would be a massive step-down from the previous names on his wish-list. Therefore, he will be eager to make the Pacquiao fight happen.
