Lightweight superstar Ryan Garcia has parted ways with former trainer Eddy Reynoso ahead of his returning bout against Emmanuel Tagoe on April 9. It means Garcia will no longer be a part of Team Canelo, which currently shelters world champions and former champions like Canelo Alvarez, Oscar Valdez, Andy Ruiz Jr, and several others.

‘KingRy’ began his tenure under Eddy Reynoso in 2018 and saw sheer success in the ride. Their latest win happened in January 2021, when ‘KingRy’ stopped Luke Campbell to bag the WBC Interim lightweight strap. However, Garcia suffered some mental setbacks and an arm injury post-fight, which kept him sidelined for the rest of the year.

That said, he will now return with the Hall of Famer, trainer Joe Goossen, as his new chief man. Ryan Garcia revealed the news via an official press release and clarified his stance on the whole thing. Per the youngster, his father Henry Garcia and Joe Goossen will work together as his trainers. He also revealed how Joe Goossen had been his trainer in the past, which Garcia believes will help him in his upcoming journey.

Well, he ended his terms with Reynoso on a bright note. The lightweight contender showcased his love and respect for Team Canelo and wished them luck. Although Garcia remained undefeated under Reynoso’s guidance, we have already seen the last of the pair in-ring, at least for now.

Garcia wrote in the press release, “We built an incredible friendship that I’ll always cherish. On behalf of my whole team, I wish Eddy continued success in his amazing career.”

21-0 as a professional, Garcia has amassed 18 knockouts in his favor so far. He seemed aligned with Reynoso’s training as Canelo Alvarez was also there to pass him some valuable tips. However, ‘KingRy’ believes he will gain more by being under Joe Goossen’s training.

The Veteran trainer, Goossen has trained some of the best punchers in the sport, like Diego Corrales, Joel Casamayor, Michael Nunn, and several others. Meanwhile, Ryan Garcia will also fall on that list now. While Garcia has been out of action for more than a year, his returning bout will demand a lot from him. It will be intriguing to see whether the youngster can upgrade his abilities under the new training guidelines.
