Former interim WBC lightweight champion Ryan Garcia has been given 48 hours to enroll with VADA to get a rematch with Devin Haney, as per Haney’s father, Bill Haney. The two fighters previously faced off in April, where Garcia initially won via a majority decision. However, after testing positive for ostarine, Garcia’s victory was overturned, resulting in a no-contest and a suspension from the sport.

To top it off, Devin Haney filed a lawsuit against Garcia, seeking damages for battery, fraud, and breach of contract in connection with their fight. Despite the legal issues, Garcia appeared in a recent interview with Cool Kicks, where he claimed he’s preparing for a rematch with ‘The Dream.’

“We’re training every day. We got to be ready for when Devin Haney wants that fade again. We already beat his a** one time. If we do it twice, there’ll be no debating anymore. I beat his a** like he stole something,” Garcia said. He further noted that Haney was actually heavier on fight night, despite Garcia coming in 3.2 pounds over during the weigh-ins.

“He also took 1.5 million dollars because I missed weight. Once you take the money, shut the f*** up. He’s a Diddy man,” Garcia added. This interview caught the attention of Bill Haney, who took to X to respond, “We don’t duck fights or lawsuits. @RyanGarcia, you got 48 hours to enroll in VADA for the rematch. Clean competition, real standards. We’re always ready—are you? @Realdevinhaney stays focused, lawsuit or not.”

Meanwhile, the Haneys and Ryan Garcia have already started their back-and-forth, reminiscent of their pre-fight antics at the beginning of this year.

Ryan Garcia is suing Devin Haney back

After word about Haney’s lawsuit against Ryan Garcia hit the internet, the Victorville native reacted to it, in one instance, by writing, “No words.” Garcia also commented on the lawsuit claiming that he is being sued for doing his job in another instance. Regardless, Devin Haney reacted to Garcia’s ‘No words’ remark, writing, “Dumb a**. This, of course, prompted Garcia to reveal he is also suing Haney, writing,“Ima sue you for hurting my feelings with that tweet.”

Having said that, a second match between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney seems to be in the making. It definitely won’t be happening this year. In fact, it’s not happening before April 2025. Nevertheless, when the rematch does happen, it has the potential to break records. Do you agree?
