However, he put all of that to bed with the way he reacted to the knockdown. After the fight, Garcia could afford to laugh it off. In the post-fight interview, he said, “Even when he dropped me, I got up, it was a good shot, I was cold… And he caught me there. I was like, “Yo! I got dropped, this is crazy.”

At the time, it appeared Garcia had a lapse in concentration. However, he explained how it happened. He said, “I think I got a little too excited in the moment. I knew I was in control, but I wanted just to dog him. And like, I felt I could have cracked him, but he cracked me.”

Lessons learned for Ryan Garcia.

Despite getting the victory in the best possible way, Garcia still got a lot more from this fight. This was the first time he was in the ring with a fighter of Campbell’s quality. He can laugh about it now, but the knockdown rattled him in the fight.

However, he showed he is capable of sticking to his game-plan and fought on with a lot of courage. This enabled him to unleash his powerful body shot and knockout the Englishman.
