Ryan Garcia is on the road to a comeback. Earlier this year, ‘KingRy’ suffered an injury that required surgery. Because of his injury, he had to pull out of his highly awaited comeback fight against Jojo Diaz Jr.
Things are, however, finally going Garcia’s way as he is preparing to fight in 2022. His Father Henry Garcia revealed to Elie Seckbach when his son would fight next. Henry Garcia was at the Canelo Alvarez gym, training one of his fighters.

Seckbach asked Garcia whether his son would fight in 2022. Garcia said, “Ryan’s doing really good. He’s coming back. Absolutely, he’s going to be shocking the world.” Sekhbach then asked Henry Garcia who ‘KingRy’ would fight next.
“Well you know, there’s a few people that we want you know. But it could be Cruz, it could be Barbosas, it could be Teo. There’s a lot of lightweights out there that we’re interested in.” Henry Garcia said.

Cruz has a very good chin and does not back away from a fight, even against one of the hardest punchers in the division in the form of Gervonta Davis. This will be an interesting fight to make against Garcia, and it will be his toughest test so far.

Garcia wants this. My understanding is Golden Boy doesn’t, largely because they don’t like the idea of Garcia, coming off a major hand injury, facing someone as iron chinned as Cruz in his first fight back. https://t.co/REC6g7KqJH

According to Chris Mannix, the promotion company doesn’t want Garcia to fight Cruz since he is coming off over a year-long break. Fighting someone as tough as Cruz for his comeback fight could prove disastrous for Garcia.
