‘Sadly Both Men Fought for Far Too Long’: Forgotten Locker Room Picture of Mike Tyson With Muhammad Ali After His Last Pro Fight Sends Boxing World Into Frenzy

Mike Tyson idolized the former three-time heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali throughout his life. He became a boxer following Ali’s footprint and went ahead by becoming the youngest heavyweight champion ever. When he got an opportunity to meet ‘The Greatest of All Time’, he embraced it and went on to become a lifetime friend. The bond between them was so pure that they had each other’s support whenever they underwent tough times. An example of it recently surfaced on the Internet.

A page named Boxing Gods Inc shared a picture of this great duo on Facebook and wrote, “Muhammad Ali sitting next to Mike Tyson in the locker room after the final fight of Tyson’s career on June 11th, 2005 against Kevin McBride.”

The picture is a special one because it takes us back to Tyson’s retirement fight in which Ali cheered for ‘Kid Dynamite’. In 2005, at the age of 38, ‘The Baddest Man on Planet’ gathered himself for the last time to test his mettle for the last time against Irish pugilist Kevin McBride.

Despite his age, Tyson stepped inside the ring as a favorite. No doubt, he matched his fans’ expectations and outpointed his opponent till the the sixth round. Ahead on the scorecard, Tyson sat in his corner after the sixth round and could not respond to the bell. Tyson’s last fight was ruled as a TKO loss.

However, when fans saw this picture, they admired both legends.

“Oof I remember the McBride fight and when he lost to Danny Williams. It was a sad sight”, a fan wrote.

A fan lamented the fact that both the greats fought for far to long. “Sadly both men fought for far too long,” the fan said.

“From beginning to the end of Iron Mike Tyson’s boxing career late Muhammad Ali was by his side giving him hope as he was an inspiration to the BOXING SPORT,” a fan wrote.
