“Scared to Death”: Mike Tyson Dismisses Rumored Rules for Jake Paul Fight

Even though the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight is quite a while away, people can’t stop talking about Tyson’s return to the ring. Scheduled for July 20 at AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas, there has been speculation about the upcoming fight, with rumors swirling that Tyson may wear headgear and use 18-ounce gloves.

However, that doesn’t seem to be the case! While appearing in a recent interview with Fox News, the former heavyweight champion set the record straight. Discussing his upcoming fight, Tyson touched upon the regulations of the fight, while also expressing his thoughts and approach going into the highly controversial fight against ‘The Problem Child.’

Speaking to Tyson, Sean Hannity from Fox News probed him about all the rumors that are going around about the rules in his upcoming fight, questioning whether there is any validity to them. In response, the 57-year-old, soon to turn 58, claimed, “Not true, not true at all.” He went on to suggest that the rules of the fight are totally different from that of an exhibition.

“If you look up exhibition you will not see any of the laws we are fighting under…This is a fight,” said Tyson. Moreover, despite the age gap, Tyson doesn’t feel Paul is faster than him. He thinks Paul will try to hurt him, but “he is going to be greatly mistaken.” When the host asked to “kick this guy’s a** and shut him up,” Tyson promised to do that.

The former heavyweight champion further added, “Right now I am scared to death, but as the fight gets closer, the less nervous I become” because Tyson thinks he is invincible. Moreover, when asked whether he wants to teach Paul a lesson, ‘Iron’ Mike claimed he would do that but doesn’t hold any grudges against the YouTuber-turned-boxer. Meanwhile, another legend of the sport has expressed his thoughts about the Tyson vs. Paul fight!

Canelo Alvarez and Mike Tyson don’t seem to be on good terms recently. Not long ago, the former heavyweight champion criticized Canelo for avoiding a fight against David Benavidez, something that did not sit well with the Mexican superstar. So, in an interview with TMZ Sports on March 31, ‘Cinnamon’ expressed his disdain for the fight. 

When asked whether he was interested in the Paul vs. Tyson fight, Canelo didn’t miss a breath to claim, “Not at all.” When the reporter highlighted Netflix’s involvement, Canelo stated, “Netflix being involved, yes, it’s good. But not in that kind of fight. I think it’s more show than a fight.”

With the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight inching ever so closer, the former heavyweight champion has cleared things up about the rules in the fight. Meanwhile, he is confident about defeating Paul.
