Muhammad Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the year 1984. However, he showed symptoms of this brain disorder way before he was diagnosed. Parkinson’s numbs the brain and causes stiffness and difficulty with balance and coordination. Yet, Ali was adamant about not retiring and continued to compete in sanctioned professional boxing bouts with his condition. Most boxing fans have stated that the punishment he received in the ring exacerbated his condition.
Moreover, it bears mention that, despite suffering from the disease, the boxer continued to stand up for his causes. Not to mention, he opened a medical center, related to the disease in Phoenix. Seven years after his unfortunate demise, his legacy is carried on by his daughter. So without further ado, find out her contribution to this altruistic cause.

The daughter of Muhammad Ali carries on her father’s legacy
‘The Greatest,’ gave birth to nine children and seven of them were daughters. One of his daughters, Maryum Ali has a social media presence of her own and has over 25,000 followers on Instagram. Since her teenage years, the daughter of the legendary boxer had a fervor for theatrical performances and has been a public speaker.
That being said, she uses her platform to spread the cause her father firmly stood for during his time. She re-posted a post on her Instagram story made by togetherforsharon, that raises awareness & hope for a cure for Parkinson’s disease. The page also released an interview with the daughter of the former heavyweight champion. The caption of the post stated, “An interview with Maryum “May May” Ali, Public Speaker & Social Worker”

It is safe to say that she carries on the legacy of her father who wanted to spread awareness about the disease. Moreover, find out how Ali was told about the possibility of suffering from the disease but he ignored it.
Ali ignored doctor’s warning about his deteriorating health
14 years before he was diagnosed, his doctor, Ferdie Pacheco had warned Ali about his deteriorating health. However, Ali resorted to ignore this warning. In “Ali: A Life,” written by Jonathan Eig, the doctor was quoted as stating, “His reflexes were only 25 to 30 percent of what they should be. He didn’t see that, he didn’t think he was brain-damaged, he didn’t remember things. He was stuttering and stammering,”
