He admitted Valdez surprised him with his knockout. In addition, he claimed a fight between the two was the only bout to make.

WBA super-featherweight champion, Gervonta Davis, also gave his reaction to the victory. The undefeated champion replied to a tweet suggesting a fight between him and Valdez and said he would ‘tuck him in like a baby’. Thus, he suggested he would knock him out cold.

Oscar Valdez brings excitement in the super-featherweight division

Valdez’s knockout victory may have sparked a lot of excitement in the 130 lbs division. The likes of Leo Santa Cruz and Berchelt previously dominated the division. However, it appears the tide is now turning.

Valdez holds the WBC title, while Stevenson is in pole position for a title bout after the Jamel Herring vs. Carl Frampton fight. Moreover, Davis’ victory over Santa Cruz puts him in the mix. The former champion, ‘El Terremoto’ also remains a dangerous prospect.

In addition, Stevenson reacted to Davis’ claims about knocking out Valdez. This will only increase the excitement in the division given the characters of the fighters. Therefore, boxing fans have a lot to look forward to in the 130 lbs division in 2021.

What do you make of the call-outs from Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson? Do you think Oscar Valdez should fight either of them next?
