On February 22, two young lightweights are going to set the stage on fire in one of the biggest cards of the year. A 27-year-old Shakur Stevenson will put his WBC lightweight championship on the line against the 22-year-old Floyd Schofield, who has fired up the division.

While the rivalry started with mutual respect, in the last few weeks it has taken an ugly turn. ‘Kid Austin’ has been constantly mocking Stevenson on his social media. However, as the Jersey City native failed to appear in the official press conference, it gave ‘Sugar’ a perfect chance to get back at him. And so he did, urging Schofield not to “pull out the fight.”

Expectedly, the 22-year-old didn’t take it lightly and hit back at the Newark native. He issued a stark warning, thanks to a major betrayal.

Betrayal in Shakur Stevenson’s camp

After the press conference, Schofield took to his X handle and wrote, “It’s crazy that one of his soldiers told us everything about our opponent,” revealing that there was a mole in Shakur Stevenson’s camp. As expected, the 22-year-old kept the identity of the mole a secret and it has massively helped him as his team now “know your (Stevenson) weakness… 😂,” and can prepare accordingly.

Furthermore, it looks like, there are already doubts in the Stevenson camp regarding the upcoming bout. “Our opponents camp was something because he knows he will lose,” wrote ‘Kid Austin’. It looks like the WBC champion is going through “too many physical and mental issues,” and now doesn’t have time to work on those limitations.

Floyd Schofield’s confidence has increased tenfold with this newfound information. Furthermore, taking advantage of the proceedings, he issued a warning to the 2016 Olympic silver medalist claiming that the latter should be ready for a war. As he won’t be just coming for a victory, “Our goal is to break his face 💪🏽.” While the rising lightweight star is confident and thinks that he will walk away with the title, another rising lightweight thinks otherwise.

Floyd Schofield is not ready for the big stage

The lightweight division is currently stacked with talent. One of the rising talents that has been making a name is Ohio-born boxer Abdullah Mason. With a 16-0 record, there is a high chance that Mason will face either Schofield or Stevenson pretty soon. Furthermore, he will be facing Manuel Jaimes in New York, just a week before ‘The Last Crescendo’ event.

In a conversation with FightHype, Mason revealed that he was looking forward to the fight. Predicting the result of the fight, he claimed that, Floyd Schofield, who will be entering his first title fight, may not be ready for it. “I feel like Shakur does what he wants in there. ‘Kid Austin’ has a good style, but I don’t think it’s a style that’s ready for Shakur. I feel Shakur might sweep him. He might stop him. I’m not sure how he’s going to fight, but I feel he can do what he wants,” claimed Mason.

He further revealed that ‘Kid Austin’ has no chance against Shakur Stevenson. However, “it’s boxing, and there’s a percentage,” so you can never rule out anything. “To me, I don’t see it,” declared Mason. However, if the recent revelation by Floyd Schofield holds any truth, Shakur Stevenson might really be in trouble. Furthermore, the recent confrontation has made the fight even more intense and we can expect fireworks.

Do you think there was a mole in Shakur Stevenson’s camp? If so, will it increase Floyd Schofield’s chances of being the lightweight champ? Let us know your thoughts down below.
