Scorned by Canelo Alvarez’s betrayal, Jake Paul set out in search of a new rival to replace the Mexican superstar. Fortunately, he didn’t have to look far. Enter Gervonta Davis. Initially, the matchup seemed doomed after Davis’ near loss to Lamont Roach Jr. derailed talks. However, both sides eventually agreed to an exhibition bout — with a unique twist.

Set to take place in Miami, Florida, streaming live on Netflix on November 14, the fight will mark the first exhibition bout that will have a winner. The stark contrast in size between the two has sparked debate over whether Paul’s size or Davis’ skill will decide the outcome. Still, ‘El Gallo’ has left nothing to chance—even seeking help from Shakur Stevenson.

Jake Paul is sparring with only the best

Speaking to the Cleveland native, a reporter from TMZ Sports pressed Paul about his preparations for the upcoming blockbuster. “Yeah, no, we have world champions, Raymond Ford in the 130-pound weight class, we got Montana Love,” Paul said before revealing that even WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson is heading his way.

“Shakur Stevenson is coming in this week. So just sparring against guys on their level and people who have, you know, been doing this their whole entire lives,” Paul added. Still, how exactly does Paul plan to beat the Baltimore native? “We’re really focusing on speed and not as much on power,” Jake Paul told the reporter.

“I’m not doing as much, like, weightlifting and all that stuff,” he concluded. The clip of this interview quickly started circulating on social media, especially X, where Stevenson found it and confirmed his help for Paul. “Fire, get a chance to pick a great business mind, brain, and help give some game in the process, I’m down,” Stevenson posted in response.

Stevenson, of course, has been trying for some time now to convince Gervonta Davis to fight him. However, all his efforts have been in vain, as a fight failed to materialize between them. The Newark native is currently in talks for a fight against WBO super lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez, which is expected to happen early next year.

While Stevenson has agreed to help Paul in sparring, who does the WBC lightweight champion think is going to win the fight?

Shakur Stevenson predicts Gervonta Davis will take Paul to school

Stevenson knows exactly what will happen when Davis and Paul meet at the center of the ring next month. Despite the huge size and weight difference, Stevenson believes ‘Tank’s superior boxing IQ will make all the difference. “Size will play some part in the fight, but if I’m thinking like I’m ‘Tank,’ I’m gonna go out there and try to outbox him and use my knowledge and IQ against him,” Stevenson told TMZ Sports a couple of months ago.

“I can just see ‘Tank’ outboxing him and making it look easy.” While Stevenson doesn’t see Davis knocking Paul out, he expects a dominant performance. “[Tank wins] by decision. I mean, [Jake’s] too big—I don’t think he’s just gonna knock that guy out. I see him outboxing him.” The outcome of the fight is so obvious to the Newark native, he went as far as to mention that he won’t be watching the fight.

Having said that, Shakur Stevenson may not think Jake Paul can win, but he is down to help him train for the Gervonta Davis fight. Whether this will help ‘El Gallo’ beat Davis is yet to be seen, but do you think Paul stands a chance?
