Shakur Stevenson ranks among the brightest upcoming talents in the world of boxing. The undefeated young gun has annihilated every opponent he’s faced, and now he wishes to target the champions of his super-featherweight division.

Lately, ‘Fearless’ spoke to Mike Coppinger about his next fight, possible opponent, and more.

“I can’t really force nobody to get in the ring and fight me. I can’t put a gun to somebody’s head and say ‘sign the contract’. If Jamel wins, he’s got five days to decide whether he’s going to fight me. He might vacate it and I might be fighting for that belt at the garden.” he said.

Stevenson last fought in December 2020 against Toka Clary. Here, the 23-year-old won with a unanimous decision, thus scoring 100 on all three judges’ scorecards.

‘Fearless’ believes he’s taken on enough contenders in the line to make himself viable for a title shot. In his above statement, he called out the WBO super-featherweight champ, Jamel Herring, who is set to defend his belt against Carl Frampton this weekend.

If not Herring, then Stevenson is comfortable in confronting Frampton as well. He just wishes to take on a stout champ of his weight class to elevate his legacy onto the next level.

Moreover, he also wishes to battle out his dream matchup and the WBC super-featherweight champ, Oscar Valdez. In the above interview, he even claimed that if it was solely in his hands, he would have unquestionably targeted Oscar Valdez.
