In a few hours, Caleb Plant will step inside the ring to defend his IBF strap against Caleb Truax. This is a crucial fight for ‘Sweethands’ as a win might just put him on the brink of a title unification fight. His fans, and many boxing enthusiasts, believe if he pulls off a win tonight, he might get his hands on the pound-for-pound king of boxing, Canelo Alvarez.
Recently the former welterweight champion Shawn Porter shared his views on this while he was in chat with FOX Sports PBC.
He said, “I want to see it. That’s the fight I want to see. Looking at that landscape right there, looks a little bit like the welterweight division,”

Porter looked ecstatic about the matchup between Canelo and Plant. He even asserted the current super-middleweight roster was as dynamic as the welterweight division.
He continued, “I think we’re in a great fight tonight. And I think we’re gonna get a good glimpse of who Caleb Plant is in a fight with Canelo Alvarez.”
Porter added that ‘Sweethands’ fight with Caleb Truax has arrived just at the right time, as Plant can put his prowess to test and employ his best skill sets tonight to edge over his opponent with a win. This fight will also show a snippet of how will he fare if he takes on the unified 168-pound champion.

Caleb Plant to call-out Canelo Alvarez tonight?
Caleb Plant is undefeated and is entering the prime of his career. More than anyone else, he’ll be looking for a massive win tonight to get aligned for a mammoth fight with Canelo Alvarez.

Alvarez has cemented his plans to stay at the 168-pound division and he will enter the squared circle on February 27 to defend his titles against Avni Yildirim. If he gets past Yildirim, he undeniably will challenge Billy Joe Saunders for his WBO belt.

If he bags that win in both these fights, a bout with Caleb Plant will definitely be on the cards.
However, it will be intriguing to see how things play out tonight for the Nashville native. His post-fight call-out will be worth a watch if he wins tonight.
