Shawn Porter vs Kell Brook (2014)-The Title loss
Following the IBF welterweight title win in 2013, Porter successfully defended it twice before losing the strap to Kell Brook in 2014. It was also Porter’s maiden professional loss that came after a staggering record of 24-0-1. Although Porter delivered his best, Brook cracked him up throughout the 12 rounds. However, it wasn’t a close fight.

Shawn Porter started defensively and looked strong for a few rounds, but couldn’t save himself from feeling the heat. While the fourth round and the fifth went in his favor, Brook turned the tables in the sixth. He moved well and connected the right shots.
Shawn Porter became aggressive in the final rounds, but was just too tired. After the full-length fight, judges scored it 117-11, 116-112, and 11-4 in favor of Brook for the majority decision.
Shawn Porter vs Keith Thurman (2016)- Too far from the title
‘Showtime’ vs ‘Onetime’ was a scrap that totally lived up to people’s expectations. The hard-hitters offered their best version in the ring and forced each other to push the limits. WBA welterweight champion (then) Keith Thurman began the first round by dominating Porter.
He soon faced adversity after Porter responded aggressively in rounds three and four. The Ohio native held Thurman on the ropes and attacked from variant angles.
Nevertheless, Thurman found his way back in the fight in the later stage. He decoded Porter and didn’t hesitate to throw fists in response to Porter’s hard shots. It ultimately turned beneficial, as Thurman earned a unanimous 115-113 decision in his favor.
‘Showtime’ vs ‘The Truth’ – A Blast
After the Thurman loss, Porter claimed several wins to secure his second title win against Danny Garcia in 2019. He then put the WBC 147 lbs belt on the line against Errol Spence Jr., who was holding the IBF strap back then.

The unification fight saw Spence Jr. enter as the massive favorite. But the reality was different. ‘The Truth’ Spence Jr. faced one of his toughest battles against Porter.
Despite being the better puncher that night, Spence Jr. couldn’t punish his rival. Coming across a tough fight, Spence Jr, somehow managed to beat Shawn Porter via split decision.
