As the countdown to the highly anticipated Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford undisputed Welterweight championship fight draws near, the boxing world is buzzing with excitement. This monumental matchup between two elite fighters has the future of the Welterweight division hanging in the balance, making it one of the most captivating showdowns in recent boxing history. However, the boxing world has been divided over who to pick as their choice heading into the fight, given how close both fighters are in terms of acumen.
In addition, former champion Shawn Porter who has faced both champions decided not to pick a favorite. In September 2019, Spence secured a split decision victory against Porter, then the WBC titleholder, to become a unified Welterweight champion. More than two years later, in November 2021, Crawford showcased his exceptional skills by successfully defending his WBO Welterweight title with a commanding 10th-round TKO. Despite facing both ‘Bud’ and ‘The Truth’, Porter feels that it is too hard for him to pick a clear winner heading into this fight.

A diplomatic stand: Shawn Porter remains neutral on Spence vs Crawford
Rather than picking sides and declaring a favorite for the upcoming fight, Porter has opted to remain neutral. In an interview with Baller Alert when asked to give his pick, the former champion remained neutral. He then emphasized the exceptional talents of both fighters and claimed that it was hard to pick when both fighters are undefeated. Porter recognizes that this is a battle between two elite champions, each with their unique strengths and styles. Moreover, for him either one could be crowned the victor of this fight.
“I Don’t” he said when asked to give his pick. “What matchup are you gonna bet on? The one with the ‘Dubs’ or the one with the ‘Spenders’. We got ‘Dubs’ and we got ‘Spenders’. We got 22’s and 22’s. “ he said

Porter’s diplomatic approach to the question of picking sides is commendable and demonstrates the respect he holds for both. As a true competitor himself, Porter understands the demands and challenges of facing such formidable opponents. However, he still feels that ‘Bud’ should be wary of Spence and his ability to push forward under pressure.
