Shawn Porter Targeting a Fight With Manny Pacquiao – Says Money is Not the Only Reason

The former two-time boxing welterweight champion, Shawn Porter, has expressed his keenness to fight one of the greatest boxers of this era, Manny Pacquiao.  The ‘Showtime’ stepped inside the ring on August ’20 beat Sebastian Formella via a unanimous decision.

In a chat with Fino Boxing, the former champion talked about the upcoming Errol Spence Jr vs Danny Garcia fight, the predictions, and a probable fight with Manny Pacquiao or Terence Crawford.

When asked on who would he like to face next, ‘Showtime’ avidly responded:

“I think a fight with Manny Pacquiao would be a fight for the ages, I think that would be one of the most action-packed and historic fights to be seen, and I really would love to be a part of that. For me, it’s not just the money that he commands, but also the attention and the excitement that he commands as well. I am right there on that level and I want that and then beyond him a chance at Crawford (Terence).”

‘Pac Man’ has a gigantic fan base. Porter firmly believes that a fight with Manny Pacquiao would cater to the masses. He holds high regard for ‘Pac Man’ and has expressed his esteem for the legend.

More than a money fight, Pacquiao’s battle will be a great stylistic matchup for the former champion and will bring in high recognition for him. ‘Showtime’ feels he is in the prime of his boxing career and a Pacquiao fight is best suited for him now.

Post the ‘Pacman’ battle, Porter wants the undefeated Terence Crawford fight to add to his resume.

Shawn Porter holds 31 wins and 3 losses to his name. The ‘Showtime’ exhibits a 48. 57% of the knockout ratio. The 33-year-old is relentlessly making his way towards the top and is trying to establish himself as the best in the sport. Hence, it makes sense that he is calling out the biggest names in his division.

Meanwhile, even at 41, Pacquiao is showing no signs of slowing down. The 62-7 boxer beat Keith Thurman and there is no stopping him. Given his political aspirations, the southpaw might just be on the verge of retirement. He will look to square off his career with 2-3 fights more.
