Dr. Khalilah Camacho Ali is an award-winning author, actor, and producer. Moreover, she is also known for being boxing legend, Muhammad Ali’s second wife. Ali is known for being a relentless advocate for human rights, especially for the members of the African American community. However, she was recently on the news after she was called out by the director of the Texas African American Museum in Tyler. And it involved her not coming through on a promise she made to the museum. Notably, Khalilah makes an appearance in the documentary My Father Muhammad Ali.

Khalilah was in attendance at the February 2022 fundraising gala organized by Texas African American Museum. Notably, the aim of the museum is to educate and empower the community. During the event, Khalilah made a promise, “And all I can say is before I make my speech. I am actually going to donate $1 million to the Texas African American Museum.”

And now almost a year later, the executive director of TAAM, Gloria Washington, revealed that she is yet to make the donation. As per KLTV, Washington said, “That was February last year. We have made some contact with Mrs. Ali, but she still has not come through with her promise of one million dollars.”

Washington further added, “She did not leave us one million dollars and she has not given us one million dollars.” Additionally, Washington also revealed that the museum is in dire need of funds for renovations.

Ali had a massive impact on the African American community’s struggle for freedom. A movement that later came to be known as the Civil Rights movement. His influence provided the movement with a sturdy backbone that it solely needed. This in turn catapulted him to the position of a heroic symbol for the movement. He was known for being an integral part of the rallies. And often addressed crowds, thereby motivating them to fight for their freedom.

Moreover, it is said that Ali’s contributions impressed the movement’s leader, Martin Luther King Jr. So much so that King sent him a telegram expressing his interest in meeting him.
