“She’s Gonna Have to Earn the Respect” – Natasha Jonas on Her Upcoming Opponent Katie Taylor

Natasha Jonas has all the admiration for her upcoming rival and unified female lightweight champion, Katie Taylor. The duo will collide in a title fight on May 1. Jonas who registered the first draw of her career against Terri Harper in August 2020 has moved up a division to find a new challenge.

Coming into the fight, the challenger connected with Matchroom Boxing and revealed how ‘The Bray Bomber’ had influenced her and several other boxers’ careers at the amateur level. Hence, Natasha Jonas has absolute respect for Katie Taylor.

She said, “Even throughout our amateur career, she [Katie Taylor] has always been, you now set the bar really high. And everyone’s had to catch up. You know she speaks, she presents herself well. She is very positive, and she has been a great role model.

Addressing the issue Natasha Jonas added, “You know that’s carried on into the professionals. But you know when we step into the ring on fight night, she is gonna have to aim that respect. I have got all the respect and admiration for her outside the ring. But in the ring, you have to earn it and that’s what we all do.”

Katie Taylor vs Natasha Jonas Preview

The rivals will meet each other in a 10-rounds main-event clash at the Manchester Arena in the UK. Katie Taylor will put her unbeaten streak and the WBC, WBA, IBF, and IBO lightweight titles on the line. Adding to that, the fight will be stylistically alluring.

As Taylor is an orthodox and Jonas is a southpaw, they can drag each other to the corner, showcasing an epic fight. Jonas will relish a 3” reach advantage. However, her 9-1-1 record clearly falls short in front of Taylor’s 17-0 resume.
