If you’re new to boxing, you’ve probably heard about Ryan Garcia’s positive test for the banned substance Ostarine after his fight with Devin Haney last April. But if you’ve been around the sport a while, you know this kind of thing isn’t exactly new. Performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) and boxing, unfortunately, have a bit of history. Canelo Alvarez, Tyson Fury, Conor Benn, Shane Mosley, James Toney, and Roy Jones Jr., have all been part of that history.

And then there’s Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller. In 2019, he was supposed to face Anthony Joshua for the unified heavyweight title fight. But just before the fight, he tested positive for a banned substance—GW501516, HGH, and EPO. And was banned from boxing for six months. But you know what they say, old wounds die hard. And now, 6 years after the PED scandal, Jarrell Miller still thinks Anthony Joshua ducked him.

Anthony Joshua accused of “Staying Away” from Jarrell Miller

After a draw last year against Andy Ruiz, Miller is set to face Fabio Wardley on June 7 at Portman Road Football Ground in Ipswich on a Queensberry Promotions card. With just two months to go, the guy’s been everywhere—press conferences, promotions, all that fight week hype building. But in the middle of all this noise leading up to fight night, Miller seems to have a side agenda he wants to settle.

Maybe the 36-year-old forgot—or just flat-out doesn’t care—that Olympic silver medalist Joe Joyce had a little advice for him. Joyce warned him that poking the bear, aka AJ, might not be the smartest move. But if Miller heard that warning? He sure isn’t sweating it. So, during a recent interview, a reporter asked Miller what’s next after his upcoming clash with Fabio Wardley (assuming he gets the win, of course). The reporter threw out the obvious name—Anthony Joshua—and wanted to know if that fight was still on Miller’s radar. And Miller? Oh, he decided to let his frustrations out.

According to him, AJ doesn’t even want the smoke. Miller claimed, “I heard his team say he should stay away from me at all cost.” And if that’s true? Well, Miller’s calling it what it is—fear. He said point-blank: “If AJ, you know AJ’s the boss on his side, if he really wants to fight he’ll make a fight happen.” But then came the real punchline— “I think AJ’s such a pu–y nowadays that he don’t want to fight nobody with a heartbeat at this point.”

Clearly, Miller thinks he’s still the guy to give Joshua a real war. But now, like he said, the ball’s in Anthony Joshua’s court. Is he going to respond? We don’t know. But it looks like Miller is all set. Not for AJ, though, but for his next opponent.

An upset win for Jarrell Miller?

Kubrat Pulev was originally ordered to defend his WBA ‘regular’ heavyweight title against Fabio Wardley earlier this month. However, according to Wardley, Pulev turned down the offer from his team. Ultimately, that opened the door for none other than Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller. The 26-1-2 boxer hasn’t been in action since that majority draw against Andy Ruiz Jr. last August. And while Miller brings heat inside the ropes, he’s just as fiery outside of them.

Talking to The Stomping Ground, the Brooklyn native made it crystal clear. “I’mma knock him out, six, seven rounds, maybe eight. I’m definitely going to stop him, though.” Classic Big Baby energy. But can he actually back it up?

Now let’s talk Wardley. He’s six years younger, undefeated at 18-0-1 (with 17 KOs!), and he’s already proven he can take a punch and give it even better. That 1st round TKO of Frazer Clarke in their rematch last October? Brutal. Wardley’s got the skills, grit, and serious power.

Still, Miller’s no pushover. He’s built like a tank, ridiculously durable, and hard to move. That draw with Ruiz showed he’s still a real threat in the division. So while most would be surprised if he stopped Wardley—especially in front of Fabio’s home crowd—it wouldn’t be impossible. In fact, Miller might just be the biggest test of Wardley’s career so far.

With that said, who are you picking? The slick, powerful, hometown hero Wardley? Or the unpredictable, dangerous veteran Miller? And if Miller pulls it off—does Anthony Joshua finally step in for that long-overdue clash?
