Most people can’t even think about having a pet as ferocious as a tiger. But that’s not the case for the vicious, ruthless, and intense ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson. Known for his deep connection with pigeons, the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ has had a variety of exotic animals as pets over the years. However, pigeons remain his first and only love of his life, an animal he can not part ways with.

While ‘Iron’ Mike dominated the heavyweight boxing scene, Mike Tyson had a tiger, a puma, and even the King of the Jungle as a pet. But none came close to his one and only love i.e. pigeon. In a recent turn of events, the well-known avian enthusiast spilled the beans on why, out of all the pets Mike has had, pigeons remain his truest love. Talking about the unexpected love story with his winged companions, Mike uncovered the secret behind his enduring love for these birds.

While speaking to ES News, the reporter questioned Mike about why pigeons mean so much to him despite having other animals as pets. In a reflective moment filled with nostalgia, Mike explained that pigeons symbolize his identity while claiming they propelled him to the epitome of boxing. “Pigeons define who I am. A pigeon brought me here,” said Mike.

He went on to reveal that the first ever fight of his life was because of a pigeon, and that exact fight set the wheels of his fighting career in motion. “My first fight was over a f**king pigeon, and look what happened,” said Tyson. Further justifying his prior assertion, Tyson suggested he fought each day ever since that fight. “I fought every day since then, and look at me now,” said ‘Iron’ Mike.

His love for pigeons might have caused the first fight of his career, but a lesser-known fact is Mike once knocked out a man for throwing away his dead bird ‘Julius.’ One day, after waking up in the morning, Mike found that his pet bird had passed away. So, he was going to honor the bird by using his crate as a stickball bat.

However, he left the crate unattended for a moment when a sanitation man threw it away in the crusher. Talking about the situation, “I rushed him and caught him flush on the temple with a titanic right hand,” said Mike. He went on to reveal that after he knocked the man out, he was on the floor convulsing.
