Where fists do the talking, Anthony Joshua chose silence and a flex. During a recent media workout for his fight against Otto Wallin, the former heavyweight champion turned heads, but not in the usual way. Instead of showcasing his boxing prowess, Joshua flexed his biceps, a move that left onlookers puzzled. This wasn’t a typical pre-fight display.

No jabs, no hooks, just muscle. The UK heavyweight, known for his knockout punches, took an unexpected route. With cameras rolling and eyes fixed, Joshua’s actions spoke a different language. It was a scene more fitting for a bodybuilding stage than a boxing ring. What was Joshua trying to convey in this silent yet loud display?

Anthony Joshua poses for the cameras

What is it that he was trying to prove? Did he not want to reveal his tricks or has he had enough of the media? Doing a double bicep flex is usually seen in weigh-ins, not in media workouts. This of course had the fans confused and they weren’t shy to express their opinions.

One fan expressed skepticism, remarking, “AJ ain’t right. He’s just going through the motions.” This comment underscores a sense of doubt about Joshua’s readiness for the upcoming fight. In contrast, another fan offered a more lighthearted take, saying, “AJ doesn’t do workouts, but workouts do AJ.” This witty observation hints at Joshua’s renowned physical condition.

The reactions didn’t stop there. One user confidently predicted, “Wallin will get dominated,” indicating faith in Joshua’s ability to triumph despite the unconventional workout. Meanwhile, another person viewed the incident humorously, suggesting, “Lol he trolling the media.” This perspective implies that Joshua’s actions might be a deliberate attempt to play with public expectations.

This fan, however, voiced a more critical stance, advising, “Someone please tell him this ain’t a bodybuilding contest.” This remark points to a disconnect between Joshua’s actions and the typical preparations expected of a boxer, especially in such a high-stakes setting.

Ahead of the bout, Otto Wallin had something to say about Joshua and his trainers.

Wallin questions Joshua’s trainer switch

Otto Wallin raised eyebrows by questioning Anthony Joshua’s decision to hire Ben Davison as his new trainer. Speaking to Boxing Social, Wallin recalled Davison’s tenure with Tyson Fury, highlighting a critical moment in Fury’s career. “He was in Tyson Fury’s corner for our fight. Remember, Fury fired Davison after that,” Wallin noted.

This change in Fury’s camp came after a draw against Deontay Wilder in 2019, followed by a fight against Wallin, which resulted in a severe cut for Fury and a victory by decision. Wallin pointed out that Fury’s subsequent improvement under new trainer Sugar Hill Steward was significant, hinting at the potential implications of Joshua’s similar trainer switch ahead of their showdown.
