There is no denying that the crown prince of boxing, and former five-division world champion, Floyd Mayweather Jr, is one of the biggest crowd pullers in the world of sports. He has been ranked as the second all-time greatest junior lightweight boxer by The Ring. Mayweather’s crowd-pulling aspect has been the pinnacle of the many events that he has been associated with. This proved true for a recent celebrity basketball match, in which Mayweather was speculated to participate. And fans were, in fact, waiting to watch him perform. However, Mayweather took to social media to announce that he was not associated with the event.

It was reported that Mayweather would participate in the Celebrity All-Star Game on February 4, 2022. Moreover, a lot of notable names were also said to be at the event, including NBA star Dennis Rodman, rapper Jack Harlow, and comedian Tiffany Hadish. In a recent post on his Instagram page, Mayweather mentioned that there was no confirmation about his participation in the event.

He further mentioned, “I did not authorize the use of my name and likeness for the celebrity basketball game that is being advertised. And therefore I will not be attending the basketball game.” Additionally, he also apologized to his fans who had planned to attend the event.
Fans had a few choice words
A lot of fans took to social media to share their thoughts about Mayweather and the Celebrity All-Star Game. In fact, they even called him out for his ‘ego’. Richard Matusik wasted no time in saying, “Sometimes your ‘ego’ needs to be put in a cupboard Floyd!”
Similarly, Ken Primola mentioned, “Stop being petty bro. People trying to do their best and maybe you was there at one time so they used your image. That’s a compliment. Just stop taking everything so personal and just go there and have fun.”
Miami Repo called him out for his financial inclinations, and said, “When billions of dollars ain’t enough TMT.”

Meanwhile, Tim Culliney mentioned, “Omg, bro. You go every year. Either way, I doubt anyone is gonna stay home just because you’re deciding not to go.”

Mike Arrington, on the other hand, said, “I heard nothing about it until now.”
And, Turrito bluntly exclaimed, “Bro chill you’re not god.”
It looks like fans were not too pleased with Mayweather’s post. And his decision to not attend the event.
