The WBA inter-continental super-welterweight title clash between Souleymane Cissokho and Kieron Conway certainly stayed true to its hype. The pair went all out against each other and gave the fans a show worth the wait. However, Souleymane Cissokho claimed a tough split decision win to end this prolific title fight.

Cissokho, a favorite in this contest, began well right from the first gong. He only moved forward with his shots and kept Conway on his toes. On the other hand, the latter looked to land his vital right hand on Cissokho, but he couldn’t really connect well with the same.

Throughout the bout, Souleymane Cissokho employed his jabs effectively to stagger Conway. From round 5, Conway showed a bit of intent and landed some power strikes. Meanwhile, Cissokho had to use his swift ring movements to dodge the heat coming off Conway’s hands. In retrospect, he remained fairly successful in the same.

In round 9, Conway turned the tables when he landed a crucial uppercut to put Cissokho on the canvas. However, the latter kept composure and took this contest to the final bell.

The 29-year-old showed enough intent right from the first round to win the fight. In these 10-rounds, Cissokho rarely lost focus and kept on landing his best hits on his adversary. He displayed a champion mindset and won this fight on the judges’ scorecard. As a result of his grit and prowess, he established himself as the new WBA inter-continental super-welterweight champ.
