‘The Gypsy King’ manhandled Wilder throughout the fight and stopped him in round seven. Later, the ‘Bronze Bomber’ justified his loss by blaming his overweight walkout costume. He claimed that the weight of the costume affected his footwork.

Wilder’s brother also accused Fury of cheating in the contest. He said that the Brit might have stuffed something in his boxing gloves, which caused some serious damage to Wilder’s head. He also mentioned that Wilder had to undergo an “autopsy.” Recently, Wilder’s sparring partner has come up with another remark to justify his loss in the rematch.

Deontay Wilder contracted injury before Tyson Fury knocked him out

The former WBC heavyweight champion’s sparring partner, Junior Fa, has revealed that Deontay Wilder had injured his bicep in a training session before February. Fa has trained with Wilder for a long time and he was assisting him during the training camp for Fury rematch.

Speaking with Sky Sports, he said, “I was very shocked [by the Wilder defeat]. The lead-up and the training was actually really good. Deontay was looking great. I think he did hurt himself towards the end of camp, which I don’t think would have played too much into the fight.

“But then I don’t really know the extent of the damage of the injury that he sustained.”

Meanwhile, Junior Fa also credited Tyson Fury for his commendable performance against Wilder. Recalling the fight, Fa said that ‘The Gypsy King’ did not take a step back while fighting.

Fury now leads the board with a win over Wilder. If Fury wins the trilogy contest, it can put the rivalry to rest. If not for the COVID-19 pandemic, it would have happened by now. However, it is still on the charts and will down by this year. Apart from the title tale, Fury vs Wilder 3 will be remembered as one of the biggest heavyweight classics from this era.
