Shakur Stevenson seems to be tired of social media at the moment! The Newark native recently announced a break from X (formerly Twitter) alongside a strong declaration about himself. The WBC lightweight champion has been embroiled in several online feuds with a couple of different people, which presumably is the reason behind his break.

At first, he found himself in a spat with Bill Haney when Stevenson offered to sub for Ryan Garcia, highlighting the Victorville native’s mental health concerns. Bill claimed Stevenson wasn’t remarkable enough to fight his son Devin Haney. On the other hand, Stevenson got into a back-and-forth with Garcia to determine who the better fighter is, securing a potential matchup. Moreover, he has also requested Oscar De La Hoya for a fight against one of his fighters. Nevertheless, Stevenson saw it fit to make this declaration on social media today.

Revealing his intentions to take a break from X, Stevenson boldly announced he was the best fighter. Taking a lil therapeutic break from Twitter again. I’m the best fighter on the planet,” wrote Stevenson. The undefeated boxer went on to describe why he thinks so highly of himself by highlighting his next fight.

Stevenson wrote, “July 6th and the rest of my career. I will show y’all why #ChasingGreatness.” However, this isn’t the first time Stevenson has made such claims! On March 23, he turned to Instagram, claiming, “July 6th, I’m back, and they woke a monster up… I’m the best fighter in the sport. Take it how [you] wanna. Everyone gets punished from here on out. See y’all then.”

Meanwhile, Stevenson’s next fight on July 6 might be against this young boxer.

Stevenson ready for Oscar De La Hoya’s fighter

The Newark native hasn’t fought since a lackluster showing against Edwin De Los Santos in November last year. It has led to many opponents avoiding a fight against Shakur. Initially, Shakur wanted to fight William Zepeda. However, after Oscar De La Hoya revealed Zepeda was fighting someone else soon, Stevenson shifted his sights to Floyd Schofield.

Schofield has been asking for a fight against Stevenson for a while now! Though Stevenson didn’t agree to the clash before, he seems to have changed his mind. Responding to Oscar’s tweet today, Stevenson wrote, “What about Kid Austin? He talks super tough on my name over social media. I don’t mind beating the shit out of him [on] July 6th… I’m sick and [tired] of all the clout chasing. What’s [the] word? Can we make that one happen?”

With that said – Shakur Stevenson seems to be on a redemption arc after a bad performance in the last fight. However, it’s yet to be seen what ‘Sugar’ Stevenson brings to the table on July 6. Do you think Stevenson will approach the fight more aggressively?
