The P4P King, Canelo Alvarez, is undoubtedly one of the greatest punchers of this era, and there’s no way one can ridicule his achievements at such an early age. That said, veteran trainer, Teddy Atlas has nothing but love and respect for the four-division titleholder. However, he doesn’t bill Canelo as the greatest Mexican boxer.
Mexico has always been a hub of legendary boxers, and the nation has produced umpteen veterans throughout the years. Meanwhile, Canelo Alvarez also falls under the same category, he might have to attain more to reach the top spot.
Speaking on his podcast, Atlas hailed Alvarez and praised his approach towards the sport. He also accepted that Alvarez has been fed with several underdog opponents. But considering the nature of the sport, Atlas didn’t use it to demean the Mexican superstar.

He said, “I like Canelo a lot. I like the way he conducts himself, I like his trainer, I like the way that he has improved and the way he has come along and develop. And continues to develop and the way that he respects the sport. Where he is always ready, he is always in shape. He doesn’t take anyone for granted. Listen, he (Alvarez) has gotten these lollipops, these layups, everyone gets them. I understand that too.”
Atlas added, “But to right now say, that he is the greatest Mexican fighter of all time, it’s not right.”
