During his prime, Mike Tyson was the ultimate villain. A fight against Mike made his opponent shake in their boots. He was known as the ‘Baddest man on the planet’ for a reason. Even though Mike’s persona and public image has taken a drastic U-turn in recent times, he was the original bad guy in boxing. So, when the Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios spoke about his bad public image, Tyson gave him some crucial advice.

In the latest episode of Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson, Mike played host to one of the star players of Tennis, Nick Kyrgios. The 28-year-old tennis player achieved his career-high back in 2016 when he reached the ATP world ranking of 13. While they were chatting in the podcast, Mike asked Nick, “Do you have people sponsoring you?” It started a conversation that would eventually lead to Mike dropping some priceless pearls of wisdom for Nick.

Answering Tyson, Nick explained tennis hasn’t been easy for him. “They painted me as like a fu**ing villain,” Nick told Tyson. He also explained the reason behind his public persona, “People, this guy is too volatile, and I’m like, I’m swearing that’s all I’m doing.” However, Nick later claimed that things are looking good for him at present as people are starting to support him. “Now I feel like they are actually rooting for me to do well,” Nick told Mike.

Responding to Nick’s woes, Mike assured Nick by saying, “Listen, don’t feel…never feel discouraged because of it.” Then Mike shared his own experience with endorsements and advertisements. Mike claimed that when he was fighting, no one wanted to do endorsements with him. “When I was fighting, they wouldn’t touch me with a million-foot pole.” However, Mike claimed that now everyone wants to work with him. 

Nick Kyrgios reacts to Polmans smashing the ball on the umpire’s face

Recently, Marc Polmans went toe-to-toe with Stefano Napolitano in a Shanghai Masters qualifying match. Marc got disqualified during the match for accidentally smashing the ball at the umpire’s face. The accidental shot happened after Marc failed a backhand drop shot on match point. Marc immediately approaches the umpire to apologize, but that does not help.

Following the incident, Nick took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to react to the incident. He questioned what punishment Marc would have to face. It’s worth noting Nick himself is no stranger to such punishments. Even in the tweet, Nick referred to his own punishment because of a similar incident.
