Lopez and Haney have been going at each other ever since rumors of their fight broke out. ‘The Takeover’, who has to either fight Haney or George Kambosos Jr next, gave an interview that instigated their latest verbal battle.

Speaking to FightHype.com, Lopez explained why Haney lost out on a shot at Lomachenko before himself. He said, “If there’s anybody to blame for the opportunity, blame himself. Because he missed that opportunity. He could have had it before I did.”

‘The Takeover’ then added, “He could have fought Lomachenko before I did. But he overpriced himself, you know. I got shortchanged on it. I did. But I knew what was at task.”

These comments showed that the 23-year-old felt that his compatriot bothered more about the money than the value of the fight.

He also suggested that since he took the fight, he is now the ‘A-side’ in the division. However, this was bound to draw a response from ‘The Dream’.

Devin Haney fired back at Teofimo Lopez

The 21-year-old champion did not hold back and took to Twitter to reveal his reaction. He wrote, “Teo might be on Drugs… I’m convinced.” Not only did this suggest Lopez’s accusations were untrue, but he also took a dig at his rival.

However, the 16-0 fighter did not let this slide without his own tweet. He tweeted out, “HIGH OFF LIFE! Best drug out there.”
