Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jr. are now hours away from settling a rivalry that could possibly be considered one of the longest-lasting rivalries of all time. After nearly a year of negotiation fallouts, Triller’s poor management, and multiple other delays, the American champion and the undefeated Australian challenger are now all set to clash for the lightweight throne on November 27 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

After snatching them all from Vasyl Lomachenko over a year ago, Teofimo Lopez has much to prove to the rest of the division than just defending his WBA, IBF, and WBA belts against Kambosos Jr.

And, Lopez knows this. In his first defense after the Lomachenko fight, he is now looking to prove the doubters and critics wrong, once again. At the recent New York press conference, things got very heated and the unified champion even channelized his inner Mike Tyson by quoting the boxing legend.

I’ll say it like this, he’s a businessman. Nobody believed me when we said we was going to beat Lomachenko, I guess nobody wants to believe me now. So, it’s all about reminding everybody. It’s the takeover, you know. He’s a businessman. It’s cool with me.

Mike Tyson once said man, ‘I’m a killer, these guys are businessmen’. There’s a difference. So, the thing is you gotta have that mentality, we out here to kill, we ain’t here to beat business, the only business there is out here, but when we in that ring, there ain’t no business there,” said Teofimo Lopez.

George Kambosos Jr. is looking to pull off a major upset against Teofimo Lopez

Even though fans have been waiting for this clash for almost a year, it definitely seems like this fight will turn out to be worth the long and agonizing wait. And, the recent press conference just showed why this fight has what it takes to be a ‘fight of the year’ contender.

Both corners fired shots at each other and the bad blood between the two was just very evident. While Lopez is looking to pull an exact repeat of his 2020 win over Lomachenko, George Kambosos Jr. is looking at this fight as a way to show who’s hungrier at this point.

Your whole team left you, everyone left you! You know why? It’s because you changed. These belts are your curse, yeah, these belts are your curse. Look at the people all around you, all gone, said George Kambosos Jr.

Let’s see what he does after the first round when I’m still standing there. He says he’s hungry but he’s lying. We’re ready for war,” Kambosos added.

Do you think Teofimo Lopez is overlooking his undefeated opponent?
