Speaking to the AK & Barak Show on DAZN, Lopez explained how his idol, Mayweather, turned into his rival. “My idol turned into my rival but, I love him, you know what I mean,” said Lopez. He then explained why by saying, “‘cause he can’t even acknowledge my name. It’s all good, it’s all love, you know.”
Mayweather previously refrained from giving Lopez the credit for his titles. Given that the former multi-weight world champion shares a close relationship with both of Lopez’s rival, it was no surprise. However, it changed the way ‘The Takeover’ saw him.
Mayweather promotes Gervonta Davis, while he previously has trained Haney for his fights. Therefore, he was bound to pick them as the top dogs in the division. However, Lopez is clearly willing to prove him wrong.

Lopez said, “Floyd man, you’re ruining your legacy, my bro. It’s a damn shame to see it all like that. I love Floyd, I looked up to him.” This is considering Mayweather calling out Jake Paul and 50 Cent. A move that has not gone down well with the boxing community.

These comments showed ‘The Takeover’ is not a fan of the concept of exhibition fights. He has already ridiculed the idea of YouTubers fighting Mayweather. And now, like most fight fans, Lopez feels Mayweather is affecting his legacy by entertaining these call-outs.
