Terence Crawford has once again shared his perspective on the highly controversial fight between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach Jr. on March 1st. Davis and Roach Jr. went head to head in New York, which produced a majority decision draw, with many claiming that ‘The Reaper’ had done enough to win. But that’s not all!

The controversy during the 9th round, where Tank took a knee and ran to his corner to get his face wiped, wasn’t ruled a knockdown, fueling heated debate. The argument was whether the knee should have been ruled a knockdown. If it had, Roach Jr. would have won the fight. Regardless, Terence Crawford was one of the few people who claimed Roach Jr. won the fight back in March.

Now, over a month later, the two-weight undisputed champion appeared in the Ring Champs with Ak & Barak podcast, where he shared a tough truth for the Baltimore native, stating, “I still had Roach winning probably [by] like one or two rounds.” The Nebraskan further added that the fight itself was close, but suggested that ‘Tank’ Davis was way too confident, which resulted in the fight unfolding as it did.

“I think ‘Tank’ just underestimated him. And he was just looking for him to be himself and get a knockout,” Crawford continued. The 37-year-old explained that Gervonta Davis often remains behind on the scorecards and still wins only because of the knockouts he is able to score. “I always said ‘Tank’ is losing until he’s not losing… When you watch him fight against Leo Santa Cruz, against Rolly… even Ryan was doing [well] the first couple of rounds…”

When asked whether the WBA lightweight champion relies too much on his power, Crawford claimed, “I do…” So, if he relies too much on his knockouts, things could very well go sideways if he fails to score the KO, something like a decision loss.

However, the question is—does Crawford think Roach Jr. will get the job done this time around?

Regardless, ahead of the rematch, Crawford, during the same podcast, revealed his predictions for the fight. Despite supporting Roach Jr.’s win in the first fight, Crawford feels ‘The Reaper’ won’t be able to secure victory in the second one. “I think you gonna get a better ‘Tank,’ but at the same time, I think Roach done fought at his peak,” Crawford said. “I don’t think he can fight no better than that.”
