Terence Crawford faces the ultimate test. After dismantling Errol Spence Jr. in 2023—when many expected a razor-close battle—he now sets his sights on an even greater challenge, former undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez. Despite his dominance over Spence, Crawford enters this showdown as the underdog.

In the meantime, the Nebraska-born technician has received a helping hand from former WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol. The Russian, of course, is only one of the two people who ever managed to solve the riddle that is Canelo Alvarez. Back in 2022, fresh off his win over Caleb Plant, Canelo made the decision he may lament forever.

The Mexican superstar climbed up to fight Dmitry Bivol at 175 pounds—it was the biggest upset in recent years, as Bivol secured a unanimous decision win over Canelo. One could say that Bivol is one of the rare fighters in the scene who knows how to beat Canelo. And now, he has shared that special secret with Terence Crawford, who is climbing two weight classes to fight Canelo.

Crawford, of course, will fight Canelo on September 13th at the Allegiant Stadium, as he aims for boxing greatness. While appearing in an interview recently, Bivol shared some vital tips for the 37-year-old. “He just needs to do his job—what he’s doing well. He’s changing his stance, moving a lot, [and] keeping [his] distance” Bivol said.

“Like this, he could win, of course. Not [by] exchanging punches with him.” Meanwhile, Bivol also revealed who has more power and shared his prediction for the bout.

Dmitry Bivol warns Terence Crawford about the power of Canelo Alvarez

Speaking to Bivol further on the topic, the reporter from Fight Hub TV pressed Bivol about who he thinks has more power behind their punches. “Canelo, of course,” Bivol said confidently. “He got used to this weight class more than Crawford. [Crawford] needs to get used to this power [at 168 pounds].”

When asked about a prediction for the fight, Bivol seemed on the fence about picking a clear side. “[Canelo] could beat [Crawford], he could stop him—it could happen anyhow you know,” Bivol noted. “From both of the sides and Canelo, of course, will try to find some hard punch,” Bivol noted.

Having said that, Dmitry Bivol seems to have shared the blueprint for Terence Crawford to beat Canelo Alvarez. However, whether ‘Bud’ can use this to his advantage remains to be seen. Regardless, do you think Crawford could beat Canelo in September?
