Terence Crawford outshone arguably the biggest draw in combat sports, Canelo Alvarez. ‘Bud’ was cool and calculated with every move he made and every punch he landed against the Mexican star. However, there was one moment when he got head-butted during the fight, which could have ended Crawford’s hopes of beating Alvarez. The 37-year-old would eventually get the better of his rival, but would later seek medical attention.

Terence Crawford was dominant throughout the whole boxing match. He controlled the pace and landed great combinations, but he also ate some powerful shots. Those shots from Canelo Alvarez did not really do any major damage to Crawford, as he showed that he has a great chin. However, it was the head-butt in the 9th round that caused all the problems, with the referee having to pause the fight for a moment.

Terence Crawford needed medical attention after the accidental head-butt from Canelo Alvarez. That caused a cut above his right eye, and he revealed that he had to get stitches while answering a reporter’s question at the post-fight presser, who seemed oblivious to the injury. Crawford said, “I got head-butted. I got a cut. I got all these stitches. You didn’t see it?” That prompted the reporter to say, “No.” The newly crowned champ added, “Oh! Yeah, he head-butted me, so I gotta get stitches after this.”

Well, beating Canelo Alvarez and proving the oddsmakers wrong is a massive accomplishment for Terence Crawford. That’s because he wanted to shut down the naysayers, who took a dig at his undefeated record, and ‘Bud’ made sure to sound off on them.

Terence Crawford silenced his critics, sending a blunt message at the post-fight pressers

Fighting is a crazy game, and just like in the UFC, anything can happen even though, on paper, things don’t feel or look that way. Terence Crawford has all the respect for Canelo Alvarez, but he doubled down on his claim that you can always expect the unexpected. Prior to the fight, people were pointing fingers at his record, claiming that he was fighting “nobodies.” Well, that did not age well as he dominated Canelo.

“Anybody can beat a nobody. Like I said, you know. And that’s all they; I’ve been fighting these nobodies. So what can they say now?” A confident Terence Crawford told the media, after which he turned to others in attendance at the presser. He kept on asking them, “Somebody tell me what can you say now… Any words [Chuckles]?” However, nobody had anything to say to the newly crowned super middleweight champion.

Coming back to his medical update, the injury doesn’t look like a serious one, as far as his statements regarding it are concerned. However, things could have gotten serious if he had gotten hit by the head-butt a little lower on his face, as it could have injured Terence Crawford’s eye. What do you think? Could it have gone worse? Drop your comments below.
