Undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez might be in some deep trouble after the sort of performance he showcased last Saturday night in Riyadh against the unknown William Scull for the IBF belt. Now, unified light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol has made things worse for Canelo by giving two-weight undisputed champion Terence Crawford the blueprint to beat Canelo.
Canelo mostly chased after Scull during their fight, failing to cut off the ring throughout their 12-round fight. It basically revealed the kink in Canelo’s armor, exposing that with age, the Mexican superstar has slowed down significantly. Adding to his woes, ‘Bud’ Crawford, who was confirmed to be Canelo’s next opponent on September 12th, is known for his footwork and agility—something he showcased against Errol Spence Jr. in 2023.
Before Saturday’s fight, Canelo seemed to have had one clear advantage over Crawford—power! However, after ‘Cinnamon’ failed to hurt Scull significantly, it’s clear that ‘Bud’ Crawford won’t have to worry about Canelo’s devastating power if he stays active on his feet throughout the fight. If this wasn’t enough, Dmitry Bivol just spilled the beans on how to beat Canelo.

“ I think I was just myself without fear,” Bivol told DAZN Boxing after Saturday night’s event. “ Because most of his opponents—they have fear and they don’t do what they can do. They [are] very tight mentally and body. They don’t throw enough punches. I think this is the most important.”

Bivol and Canelo fought back in May 2022, and the fight ended with a massive upset when Bivol outboxed Canelo to win the light heavyweight fight. While Bivol just made things harder for Canelo Alvarez, a new update reveals who will promote the fight.
