This was exactly the case with a Ukrainian boxer who had to battle through hell to emerge victorious. However, his bittersweet victory would turn out to become a nightmare after it was revealed that he wasn’t even paid fairly for the fight.

In a recent post that has taken over social media, a Ukrainian boxer revealed that he suffered horrific injuries in a match but continued in hopes of a win. However, it was claimed that he was not paid his fair purse for the fight and needed to sell his medals to cover his medical bills.

This was certainly a heartbreaking moment for the boxer and even the fans who came out to show their support for the devastated Ukrainian boxer.

One fan stated that it was incredibly sad to see promoters and venues making money on the backs of these fighters and not giving them a fair share.

Another fan called the whole thing a ‘damn shame’ as the fighters should at least be provided with health and medical insurance before their fights.

Lastly, a fan was furious that the boxer had to sell his medal. According to him, the boxer should at least be paid something to cover his medical expenses after risking his life in the ring and now having to sell his accomplishments.

The fans were not happy that the boxer was robbed of his paychecks after the fight. However, this has been the case for boxing and combat sports for a long time. Fighter pay has always been an issue that has been debated since the sport’s inception. Despite all the changes it still feels that the sport is far away from giving out fair purses to fighters. In the world of MMA, UFC president Dana White once claimed that his fighters are paid more than many boxers out there, as reported by MMA Junkie.
