Gervonta Davis isn’t happy with the top honcho at Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn. It led to the British boxing promoter apologizing to ‘Tank’ in a recent interview. Previously, Hearn shed light on the ongoing talks with ‘Tank’ Davis about a potential clash with Devin Haney. Meanwhile, Davis shared a screenshot of his DM with Hearn regarding the same subject, but what did he say?

He declined to speak to Hearn! Not so long ago, ‘The Dream’ Haney defeated Regis Prograis in an excellent show of performance. It made way for the victor to potentially face Ryan Garcia, Gervonta Davis, or Conor Benn. However, when Haney’s promoter approached ‘Tank’ for the fight, all he received was a cold shoulder and leaked DM. So, in a recent interview with iFL TV, the Brit expressed his regret.

During the interview, when asked if there are any developments with the ‘Tank’ situation, Hearn revealed the time he called the Baltimore native ‘not a deep thinker.’ He went on to suggest that Davis didn’t like that remark, which led to him declining to speak to Hearn. According to Hearn, he also said ‘Tank’ wasn’t an ‘articulate thinker,’ claiming it was the wrong word to say. So, he followed by apologizing to the undefeated boxer.

“Do you remember when I said he’s not a deep thinker? That p***ed him off… I said, ‘One reason that makes Gervonta so dangerous is he’s not a deep thinker,’ but then I said, ‘He’s not articulate,’ and that was the wrong word to use…I shouldn’t have used that word. It was the wrong word to use, and for that, I apologize,” Hearn told iFL TV. While Hearn apologized for his prior remark, in another interview, he sheds light on the entire interaction with ‘Tank.’

Hearn claims there are big offers for Gervonta Davis

Davis and Haney are embroiled in a back-and-forth online, and Hearn gets caught up in it. In a recent interview with Boxing King Media, Hearn shed light on his conversation with Bill Haney. The Brit claimed he spoke to Bill about a fight between Haney and Davis, getting big offers ready.

However, when he approached Davis, he received a big no and claimed there were other bits of DMs that Davis did not leak. “I spoke to Bill Haney, and we’ve already got some big offers in place for Haney against ‘Tank.’ And I just wanted to see if there was a chance to discuss that fight [with Davis]. He said no, there was a few other bits that he said that he decided not to post those bits,” said Haney’s promoter.
