Interestingly, Plant has only lost once in his career at the hands of Alvarez but will be looking to get his revenge against him. However, he will first have to beat Benavidez who many feel is the uncrowned champion of the division. Moreover, things got heated between the two pugilists during the press conference for the fight after the pair confronted each other right out of the gates.

David Benavidez and Caleb Plant get into a heated argument

In a video uploaded by the channel ‘The Official Plant’, Plant can be seen getting off his car and heading to the conference. However, he meets Benavidez on the spot who immediately confronts him. “That’s a motherfu**ing deadman walking right there. You know what’s up,” said Benavidez. However, Plant was able to keep his calm and fired back, even bringing up a past failed drug test. “I make it to all my fights. I made it to all my fights on weight and coc*ine free,” said Plant.

Back in 2018, Benavidez tested positive for the banned substance benzoylecgonine which is the key ingredient of the drug Plant mentioned. Following the test, he was stripped of his titles. Benavidez fired back at Plant telling him that everything will be settled on fight night. “Well see motherf**er I don’t give a f*ck,” said Benavidez. Lastly Plant would claim that his opponent didn’t scare him and only knew how to talk loud. “You’re not scary to me a lot of yip yap,” said Plant.

It looks like there is a lot of bad blood between the two and with the stakes this high, the fight does look like a great matchup. Moreover, the winner can finally make claim to Alvarez’s titles and face him for the undisputed crown.
