“That’s Just Disrespectful and Embarrassing”: Fans Remain Furious Despite Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions Willing to Refund Tickets Following Main Event Debacle

Gilberto Ramirez was set to square off against Gabe Rosado on the 18th of March,2023. The bout was sanctioned at 175lbs and Ramirez came in more than 7lbs heavier. The former champion unofficially weighed in at 182.6 pounds at Friday’s weigh-in as per ESPN. The fight was thereafter called off. The main event for the card is now Joseph Diaz Jr. vs Mercito Gesta.

Due to changes made in the main event of the card, Golden boy promotions released a public statement on the refund policy. Though, after assuring attendees to be refunded, the fans at large were not pleased with the fighter and the promotions.

Golden boy promotions took to Twitter and made a public statement about the refunding policy. It stated, “Ticket refund requests will be honoured up until event doors o.p.e n at 3:00 p.m. PT. Please reach out to your point of purchase to submit a refund request.”

The fans had vehemently reacted to the situation. They criticized Ramirez, Oscar De Le Hoya, and Golden boy promotions’ course of action.

Another fan suggested a course of action that would prevent such a mishap.

Another criticized the fighter for not being a professional. @Toros078619 wrote: “What a joke. Zurdo embarrassed himself in the Bivol fight and now this.”

Indeed, the situation is unfortunate for not just the promotions but also the fans. One can hope that such cancellations of bouts do not take place frequently.
