Moreover, it has opened a new market where tickets are on resale and prices have exponentially surpassed the face value. Reports claim that ringside tickets are at an all-time high. Their resale value has gone past $50,000.
Oscar De La Hoya, the former several weight class world champ who is promoting Garcia, claimed that it is historic. According to him, this fight’s live ticket sale is bigger than any event of boxing superstars like Canelo Alvarez and Floyd Mayweather.
What did Oscar De La Hoya say?
De La Hoya, who gained fame as ‘Golden Boy’ was one of the biggest draws in boxing. Before Mayweather, he was the biggest box-office star. Following him, Mayweather took over the sport and now Mexican icon Canelo Alvarez is regarded as the face of boxing. Surpassing the ticket sale of these fighters, Garcia vs Davis has become a new blockbuster. De La Hoya reiterated the same point.

“It’s gonna be a dog fight. Everybody is excited, I mean you saw the tickets, you saw the way everything sold out but then you have a secondary market whatever and I’ve never heard of fifty thousand dollars for a ringside seat. That’s more than a Canelo fight, that’s more than my fight, that’s more than a Mayweather fight. It’s big man”, De La Hoya said.
