Joe Joyce is now one of the most talked-about boxers in the world. Derailing the Daniel Dubois hype train has done wonders for him and his career. However, considering the fact that he is well into his 30s, his professional career may not endure for as long as he’d like.

Meanwhile, Frank Warren is committed to promoting Joyce for the fighter that he is. He scoffed at accusations of not promoting Joyce ahead of the Dubois fight.

“Why? Have I not pushed him? I paid considerable amounts of money, hundreds and thousands of dollars to buy him out of his contract. A lot of money is behind that contract and we’ve put him in good fights.

“Ustinov, and who’s the other one? He had 2 really good fights. Ryan Jennings. Is that not pushing him? We kept him busy and moved him up the rankings. He is where he is right now and holding three belts.

“For people to say we are not pushing him, that’s stupid. Why would we sign a contract again and extension if not? We are promoters at the end of the day.”

Joe Joyce really wasn’t looked at this positively prior to the Dubois fight. People thought that he was just another stepping stone for the ascending star in Dubois.

One cannot say that he was under-promoted, but it did feel lackluster. Most of the hype heading into the fight was not around Joyce and his story of becoming a professional boxer after a successful career as an Olympian.

While you cannot put that on Warren, you could say that he didn’t do very well, possibly shielding Joyce if it all went south.

It is asinine to suggest that Warren wouldn’t want to promote Joyce, because it isn’t like he had no hype heading into the bout. It is good for both the boxer and promoter, and it would be a little silly to say that Warren wasn’t committed to promoting Joyce.
