Laila Ali, daughter of ‘the greatest’ Muhammad Ali, did not let her father’s legacy sway her from creating one of her own. She followed in her father’s footsteps and retired as an undefeated boxer. With a legacy of her own, Laila took to Instagram to share with her fans a vital message.

Laila Ali’s message on legacy…
In the video shared on Instagram, the former women’s Super Middleweight champion is promoting a show on History TV named ‘ancestry.’ She talked about the importance of knowing one’s legacy and family history. The clip featured the story of reportedly the first candy maker in America, Mary Spencer.
She says, “As the greatest of all time, You might get knocked down, but the fight isn’t over.” She further discussed the story of Spencer, who started, ‘Gibralters’, reportedly the first commercially sold candy in the United States. SheBeeStingin’ talked about Spencer’s hardships before she started her candy business and how her resilience helped her succeed. Further in the video, Spencer’s fifth great-grandson learned more about his family history and legacy. Toward the end of the video, Ali said, “Knowing your family history and legacy gives you the inspiration to find your greatness.“

Laila Ali is one of the greatest female boxers to ever tighten the gloves. She remained undefeated throughout her career and won numerous titles. She retired in 2007 and is active now as a Television and Internet personality.
