Former WBC interim lightweight champion Ryan Garcia is set to face Ghanaian lightweight contender Emmanuel Tagoe today. A recent video shows Garcia jokingly calling out his coach before a sparring session.

The video, which has since garnered over 100,000 views, shows Garcia’s trainer Joe Goossen applying Vaseline on Garcia’s gloves.

Garcia looks at his coach and exclaims, “Don’t do this in the fight.”

Coach Goossen is seen confused by Garcia’s statement. He then asks Garcia what he meant.

“Do not put Vaseline on when I’m fighting.” Garcia replies. The duo is then seen sharing a light-hearted moment. Coach Goossen also tells Garcia why he was using Vaseline, “Are you serious? Do you think I’d ever do that. It’s just to keep your sparring partners alive.”

Garcia further spoke about working extra hard ahead of his match with Tagoe.  He said, “Nothing stopped me from working. So I’m working through everything. It would be a tragedy if I didn’t work my ass off.”
