The World Boxing Council or WBC brought to light the new belt known as the ‘Union Belt.’ Recently, WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman, took to Twitter and made it public.

This eye-catching brand new belt is crafted for the winner of the high-profile bout between Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte. However, as soon as this iconic belt came into the limelight, it grasped the attention.
The Ring and WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury reacted to this belt. He wrote, “The red rose of Lancashire.”

This belt is custom-built around a red theme and includes the flags of different nations on its circumference in three circular strips. The WBC often designs unique belts to mark certain iconic events. Prior to this ‘Union belt’, WBC has fabricated Mestizo Belt and Mayan Belt.

Notably, the undisputed super-middleweight champ Canelo Alvarez crowned Mestizo Belt after defeating British stalwart Billy Joe Saunders in 2021. However, Mayan Belt was given to ‘The Gypsy King’ when he outboxed Otto Wallin in 2019.
Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte may fight for the Union belt
After a long spell of inactivity, the greatest heavyweight technician of this generation, Tyson Fury is all set to lock horns with the WBC mandatory challenger, Dillian Whyte. Though the date and venue are unclear, various reports say that the epic showdown will land in April.
Prior to the WBC interim heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte, ‘The Gypsy King’ has kept his crown against former champion Deontay Wilder in the blistering clash of a trilogy. However, after smashing ‘The Bronze Bomber’, Fury was keen to take a shot against the reigning Ukrainian stalwart, Oleksandr Usyk.

However, the historic purse bid confirmed this highly anticipated bout against Whyte. Before this, purse distribution delayed the negotiation between promoters of Fury and Whyte.

As of now, both fighters are exchanging verbal beef on social media platforms and creating the hype for the All-British blockbuster showdown. However, to celebrate this event and make it a memorable one, WBC has designed the Union belt as a trophy for the winner.
