Logan Paul and his ‘Impaulsive’ podcast is a platform that has given fans countless intriguing stories over the years. Moreover, the podcast has witnessed some of the biggest names in show business gracing its floors. And the latest guest was no different. Television personality extraordinaire, Rob Dyrdek, was recently a guest on the podcast. He shed light on his iconic show ‘Rob & Big’, and the passing of his co-star and best friend, Christopher ‘Big Black’ Boykin.

Rob & Big‘ was a reality television series that premiered in 2006 till 2008. It followed the daily lives of Dyrdek and Big, who was also his former bodyguard. The episodes on this well-loved series revolved around an event or a task from their daily lives.

Meanwhile, Dyrdek was recently talking to Paul and his friends George Janko and Mike Majlak, on Impaulsive. In conversation, Paul delved into Big’s untimely demise. He said, “I did want to talk about the passing of Big. Because, like I said, man, that show was my childhood. That and the Bachelor as indicated.”

He further added, “And what an amazing show. Sort of even pioneered the reality odd couple format.”

In response, Dyrdek mentioned that hybrid shows were a rarity at that time. And also revealed that the show was originally pitched to MTV as ‘Best Friends’. But the channel wished to make a series called ‘Rob Dyrdek’s Rules to Success’.

However, the pilot episode was not satisfactory. And story editor Shane Nickerson was brought in to build the story, thereby giving birth to ‘Rob & Big’.

Rob Dyrdek tells Logan Paul about Big’s demise

Rob Dyrdek further wished to delve into ‘Big Black’ Boykin’s death. He told Logan Paul about the health issues that he faced and what he did about the same.

Talking about Big’s health struggles he said, “The sad part is man it was chasing him right? Heart condition was chasing him. Like everyone in his family died young. He was doing everything he could non-stop from like going to the doctor like super consistently. And he was still in his 30’s at that time, you know.”

Dyrdek further said, “It still caught him, you know what I mean. It was just race chasing him, his whole life you know.”

Big passed away on May 9, 2017, after suffering a massive heart attack.

Big’s untimely demise certainly came as a shock for his co-star Dyrdek, and his fan following across the world.
