British Heavyweight Daniel Dubois is confident ahead of his fight against Joe Joyce. The undefeated fighter is also optimistic about things after his fight, provided he gets the win. The two are set to meet in a blockbuster heavyweight clash on November 28, and many predict that the winner could be the next heavyweight world champion. Despite this, Dubois is staying focused on the task at hand.
Speaking to ESPN ahead of his fight, Dubois spoke about feeling the pressure when people say he’s the next big thing. He said, “There’s no pressure. I enjoy it. It’s part of the… part of the journey. It’s part of the… when you’ve got goals of winning the fights and coming through these… these [fighters] they’re putting me up against so… I enjoy it.”
He also spoke about the fight against Joyce and said, “On paper yea, it’s a 50/50 fight. But on the night, I’m looking forward to making the fight as easy as I can, you know. That’s what I always do. Adapt, and you’ve got to find a way to win.”
However, he added, “No, I don’t look past. This is for me… you know, this is… this is the next big fight, the world title fight. This is it…Then the world’s my oyster. Who’s next?”
It is clear that Dubois fancies his chances in this fight and is optimistic about the future. So, what could the future hold for the ‘Dynamite’? The WBO ranks him at #2. If Joshua has to vacate the WBO belt to fight Fury, fans could see Dubois fight mandatory, Oleksandr Usyk for the WBO title. If not, they may see him in yet another blockbuster event with some other upcoming fighter.
Whatever the future holds, Dubois is more than capable of rising to the occasion. Despite this, we can not ignore the fact that he is fighting an experienced contender in Joe Joyce. Who do you think comes out on top in this fight?
