In a display of unparalleled skill and determination, Terence Crawford emerged as the undeniable pound-for-pound champion by defeating Errol Spence Jr. last month. This victory not only solidified his status but also saw him unify the WBO, WBC, WBA (Super), IBF, and The Ring Welterweight titles. In a historic achievement, ‘Bud’ became the first man to hold all these titles in the four-belt era.

Amidst skepticism from critics, Crawford silenced his naysayers with a resounding performance. The fight culminated in a ninth-round knockout victory, crowning Crawford as the unified and undisputed Welterweight champion of the world. The fight also proved to be a financial boon, garnering an estimated $21 million in gate revenue. However, this momentous victory has ignited a shift in Crawford’s priorities.

Shifting priorities: Terence Crawford’s focus on lucrative fights

In a recent appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast, he candidly stated that his focus is now centered on financial gains. Crawford expressed, “I’ve accomplished everything there is to accomplish in the sport of boxing. There is nothing left for me to accomplish right now. It’s about the money now.” He clarified that he would only consider fights that promise substantial financial incentives.

However, while he sets his sights on lucrative matchups, Crawford openly expressed his interest in facing Canelo Alvarez. Despite contractual obligations, he aspires to become a four-belt champion in a third division before retiring.

“I’m not gonna sit here and say it’s not about money and Canelo, if that fight ever were to happen, come on man. Y’all better leave me alone. Call me ‘TBC’. I don’t know if it’s God talking to me, but if he wins. If Canelo wins, then I’mma try and pursue that.” he added

Crawford’s aspirations to face Canelo Alvarez stem from his belief that the fight holds immense potential. For him, this fight would cement his legacy as an all-time great and further solidify his claim as one of the best boxers ever. Moreover, ‘Bud’ feels that there is not a lot of size difference between him and the Mexican superstar which could make for an intriguing matchup.

In the podcast, Crawford dived deep into his aspirations to face Alvarez which stem from his belief that the fight holds immense potential. Despite Alvarez’s stature, Crawford highlights that he’s not significantly taller. Moreover, he envisions a clash that transcends their physical attributes, envisioning a monumental showdown if ‘Saul’ emerges victorious against Charlo.

“Canelo’s not a big guy, he’s five-eight. He’s muscular, but as far as height, nah. That wouldn’t be nothing that… We’d have to see. I think it could happen. To be honest, I think that’s the biggest fight in boxing if he beat Charlo.” he said
