On June 26, the stout young gun, Gervonta Davis, will escalate his boxing run by moving up to the super-lightweight roster. He will lock horns with the fellow undefeated Mario Barrios for the WBA super-lightweight title. This fight is unique in its own way because Barrios will walk into this bout with a slight advantage in height and reach compared to Davis. However, the latter isn’t quite bothered about the same.
In a recent chat with Brian Custer, Davis shed some light on his fellow adversary’s size.
He said, “I’ve been doing this on a regular. I never sparred nobody like my size. Because they can’t sit and run with me. So I always fight people that’s you know bigger, much stronger, you know so. I’ve always been fighting guys, so there’s nothing new, just something I’ve been doing my whole life.”

Until now, Davis has proved his worth in every weight class he’s stepped in. He is an unmitigated oppressor and his annihilating approach has helped him immensely in tackling his opponents. That said, ‘Tank’ has the same confidence going into the Barrios fight despite the latter holding a 5’10” height over his 5’5½”.
In his above interview, Davis even revealed that he often fights bigger guys in the gym. And that’s how he’s confident about putting on a show in this much-anticipated battle of his life.
‘Tank’ is one powerful prospect in the fight world and until now he’s fairly proven his mettle in every fight. Also, he’s hungry to achieve more and the Barrios fight is unquestionably his ticket to go big.
