This isn’t a great year for Adrien Broner. The former welterweight champion made his comeback to boxing by defeating Bill Hutchinson on 9 June earlier this year. However, he ended up with an injured right hand in the process. In addition, ‘The Problem’ lost his mentor Mike Stafford on 6 September, to whom Broner dedicated his fight. But tragedy struck again!

Originally scheduled for 2 December under Don King’s umbrella, the fight would have unfolded in Casino Miami Jai Alai. However, because of his injured right hand, Broner had to postpone the fight against Chris Howard to late February next year. Fast forward to today, Broner shares a heartfelt message about death on his Instagram Story.

Adrien Broner: Death makes men great

The Cincinnati native shared a clip from an Instagram user, where the speaker while on a podcast of sorts suggested that death is what makes people realize your value. He also added that a man can not evaluate their own value until their death, but once the man is gone everyone will realize what’s missing.

“You want to be a great man, just wait till you die. They gonna stand there and tell you – you just won’t hear it. Don’t look to hear it, but they gonna say it….You can not add and tally up who you are as a man until you are gone. That presence is not there…They don’t know what’s missing until it’s gone,” the speaker in the video stated. While only Broner can explain his reasoning for sharing the clip, here’s what his trainer said about his injury.

Kevin Cunningham guarantees a fight in late February

According to an article from Boxing Scene from November this year, Kevin Cunningham shed light on Broner’s injury. He claimed after the initial injury during the 9 June fight, Broner injured his hand again in a sparring session while at camp for the Chris Howard fight. “Adrien hurt his hand in the June 9th fight…He returned to camp for six weeks for this fight and reinjured it sparring,” said Cunningham.

Kevin also revealed that after the second injury – Broner took some cortisone injections and got back to work. Unfortunately, the former champion got injured again. So doctors recommended in favor of some rest before the next fight. Moreover, Broner’s trainer also asserted, “I personally guarantee to Don King that we will be in tip-top shape for a championship opportunity in late February.”

While Broner waits for his right hand to heal for his fight in February, the former champion took to social media to share the heartfelt message for his followers. But what did you think about the clip Broner shared in his story?
